Consumption Methods

Product format, cannabinoid content and route of use are different pieces of information. None predicts an individual's response on its own.

Flower (smoking)

Cannabis flower is burned and the smoke is inhaled. Smoke exposure carries health risks; a strain label does not establish a safe amount.

Vaporized products

Devices heat a compatible product to produce an inhaled aerosol. Follow the product and device instructions. Vaporizing does not make a product risk-free.

Edibles and drinks

These products are swallowed. Check the labeled milligrams per serving and the number of servings in the package. Effects can be delayed compared with inhalation.

Liquid extracts

Liquid products can differ in concentration and intended use. A volume such as one milliliter does not identify the cannabinoid amount without a product label.

Topical products

These products are applied to skin. Formulations and intended use differ; check the label rather than assuming a universal absorption rate or effect.

Effects, labels and medical use

Health Canada describes different timing for inhaled and swallowed cannabis and notes that effects can persist. Read its cannabis health-effects guidance for risks and evidence. Ask a qualified clinician about medical treatment.

The THC content calculator converts product weight and label percentage into milligrams. It does not recommend a personal dose or predict effects.
